That burned me when I took Your name

Heir of Your holy promise
Your spirit meets us here
In hope we share in Your suffering
With praise receive Your offering

Lost and empty, barren, broken
Waiting for a sign to come, whilst
Hanging on each word that’s left unsaid

Glimpses of the past and future
Needing now to feel Your breath
Knowing that a wintered seed will grow

Yearning for the flames that bring You
Closer, burning stronger, deeper
More than I could ever ever bear

Clarity to end confusion
Without fanfare or illusion
I discern the Rainmaker returns
